Dhauli Giri Hills (Peace Pagoda)

Dhauli Giri Hills (Peace Pagoda)

This historically significant hill marks the site of the brutal Kalinga War (c. 262 BCE), which caused Emperor Ashoka’s profound transformation from a fierce warrior to a follower of Buddhism. The hilltop is now crowned by the beautiful white Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda), built in 1972 to symbolize global peace and non-violence.
