🙏 Pujari / Worship Facilitator
Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha
We are seeking a deeply devoted and knowledgeable Pujari to serve our community/temple in Bhubaneswar. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of Hindu scriptures and rituals, demonstrate reverence in performing daily worship, and maintain a warm, welcoming presence for all devotees.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily pujas (worship rituals), aartis, and all scheduled temple sevas (services) in accordance with the established temple traditions and Agama Shastra.
- Conduct special ceremonies and rituals (samskaras, havans, yagnas, etc.) for devotees upon request (e.g., weddings, bhumi puja, satyanarayan puja).
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha) and the overall temple premises.
- Manage the preparation and distribution of prasad (consecrated food offerings).
- Provide spiritual guidance and answer devotee queries regarding rituals, festivals, and spiritual practices with patience and humility.
- Ensure all temple calendar events, festivals (e.g., Rath Yatra, Shivratri), and auspicious dates are celebrated appropriately.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of Hindu scriptures (Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, etc.) and mastery of Sanskrit mantras.
- Formal training or demonstrated experience in performing traditional temple rituals and ceremonies.
- Excellent command of English, Odia, and/or Hindi to communicate clearly with diverse devotees.
- Strong moral and ethical character, adhering strictly to traditional conduct and temple discipline.
- Ability to sing bhajans or kirtans is a significant advantage.
Preferred Skills (The “Bonus Points”)
- Proficiency in the specific regional rituals and traditions of Odisha.
- Experience in managing temple donations and general temple administration.
- Certification or endorsement from a recognized Pathshala or religious institution.
